I opened my heart
and watched it pour all over the floor
ankle deep
blood rising
he didn't flinch,
didn't move an inch
just smiled.

He's been waiting, predicting, expecting more,
not an ounce of judgement held in his soul
just opened his arms

Baited breath,
my anxious voice "forever?"
